  1. Peak Load Compensation under the SpaEfV:
    To achieve climate goals, legislation requires an increase in energy efficiency in industry and the economy. To this end, the Energy and Electricity Act has been amended. The SpaEfV regulation,“Systems for Improving Energy Efficiency in Connection with Exemptions from Energy and Electricity Taxes in Special Cases,”outlines how energy-intensive companies can receive tax relief in the form of peak load compensation. To qualify, companies must demonstrate that they have optimized their energy efficiency. Since 2015, this has meant that the peak compensation can only be granted if companies can demonstrate that they have implemented an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 or an environmental management system in accordance with EMAS.
