Data Collection

e-Gem has extensive options for seamless collection of all relevant data. It is possible to distinguish between automatic and manual capture.

With automatic data collection e-Gem relies on industry-standard interfaces and supports all major manufacturers of controls or instrumentation. Furthermore, in the area of automatic data collection any data source in alphanumeric form can be evaluated. Suppliers here are for example energy utilities with consumption data or ERP systems with benchmark factors. If necessary, data are automatically recorded weather adjusted.

There is no upper limit on the number of data collected. A dynamic licensing model, which can be adapted at any time, allows entry without risk.



The process data is collected through various interfaces. Controllers, meters, process control systems, building management systems or data loggers act as data sources. Through various drivers meter readings, measurements or digital signals can be simply addressed.

e-Gem can directly archive any value with low time interval detection frequencies or keep the flood of data small without sacrificing accuracy with mechanisms such as Delta Event.

e-Gem allows the free definition of manual values. If automatic detection of consumption or measured values is not possible, e.g. for economic reasons, consumption and meter readings can be entered manually into the system at any time. Access is via device-independent desktop or mobile device. Entries can also be made with additional comments.


The energy use of many properties is subject to influencing factors such as climate data, production volume, primary energy factors or user numbers. An analysis between different properties and time periods therefore requires a relative assessment of consumption data. e-Gem supports  standardization of metering points based on relevant factors. Here data sources are manual values from the detected process data from ERP or MES systems.

In facility management, as an example, data collection is also weather adjusted. This allows a comparison of the specific energy consumption without influence of the external temperature. e-Gem allows optional weather adjustment based on freely available values of the German Weather Service and data from other services or by a separate measurement system.
