ISO 50001 describes how a continuous improvement process proceeds in the company by creating transparency in the use of energy and the specific definition of targets. Verification is carried out here primarily through analysis before and after appropriate action. A further discipline in the monitoring of consumption is the online monitoring. Depending on the performance capability of the installed infrastructure a sample scan can also take place in a matter of milliseconds. e-Gem offers different tools to present and monitor the current consumption. In the ideal case it is possible to respond proactively to potential irregularities and thus avoid subsequent increased costs.

Instantaneous values

Current conditions can be visualized in e-Gem through different tools. e-Gem provides a tabular structured overview, in which the current power demand and the meter count are displayed in addition to the configuration data. A bar graph displays the current demand relative to the full scale measuring range. Any violations of demand limit are indicated in red.

In the detailed views of the metering points complex parent/child relationships are also hierarchically displayed, including absolute and relative consumption.  The metering point overview is also the access point for trending. In the style of a shopping basket arbitrary combinations can be created from the measuring points. This combination can be saved as a combination of graphs and released optionally system-wide or for a specific user group. Graphs can be displayed in archived or online mode. Dependent on the performance of the infrastructure, the online mode also allows load profile analysis in near real time.


The dashboard provides the user, in summary, with a condensed overview of the current status, for example, of key performance indicators. In addition the consumption or cost situation for different parts of the plant can be displayed with a few clicks of the mouse. All elements displayed are initially hidden and can be accordingly maximized by the specific user via drop down menus.

Summary analysis of metering points
On the basis of the selected organization node, consumption including costs incurred, specific to a metering point or a media, are clearly presented in tabular form. Either a daily, monthly or yearly grid can be selected for the time period. In addition, a pie chart is displayed of the current consumption situation.

Indicators allow relative interpretation of KPIs. The indicators are all displayed on the dashboard in the form of a tachometer. Consumption data can alternatively be set in relation to permanently stored reference values or dynamic values from the system.

Performance monitoring
The limits, which come under the selected object instance, are displayed in the Dashboard as performance monitoring. The constantly updated displays are derived from the stored billing interval for the medium, e.g. a 15-minute interval for power. It illustrates ideally the relationship between power demand and the limit in the time period. Expensive peak loads can thus be counteracted proactively.


Next to all the displays e-Gem can solve every individual visualization task in combination with the FlowChief process control system. There are therefore no restrictions on top-down navigation based on overview images or the creation of personalized dashboards.

Energy distribution, CHP and PV plants or waste disposal equipment, etc. can be mapped in detail. Access is integrated directly into e-Gem and securely encrypted, independent of device and operating system, using a web browser and high performance.
