The headquarter of SKF Germany in Schweinfurt The Schweinfurt site currently employs approximately 4,400 people. Schweinfurt is thus the largest production site of the SKF Group worldwide. SKF relies on central process control technology to monitor and record data for its production supply systems. In addition to the infrastructure for fluid, water, compressed air, ventilation and electrics, the building control system of Plant 1 (administration building) is also connected.
The decision to modernize the ageing Repas AEG control system was taken in 2012. When choosing the new system, FlowChief prevailed against the main competitors in an assessment centre. According to Wolfgang Voit, head of electrical engineering at SKF in Schweinfurt, the decisive factor for each FlowChief process control system was the unique integrated overall concept. Besides the FlowChief process control system, there is no product on the market that offers an innovative and plugin-free web visualization with powerful historization, reporting and complete on-call service functionalities in one application.
